Xerox makes Uganda comeback with SCI partnership

Bytes Document Solutions, the sole authorized distributor of Xerox products in 24 African countries, has partnered with Service & Computer Industries (SCI) to bring Xerox back to the Ugandan market.

Xerox products and services have not been on the Uganda technology market for the last seven years since then distributor Rank Xerox fell under financial strain.

The return brings a new range of Xerox printing and document management products and concepts to the country, said John Mark Odeke, SCI's general manager for marketing and sales.

The products on offer include the WorkCentre M20 machine for home use, the WorkCentre 7335 for medium enterprises and the DocuColor260 for large industrial purposes.

"For Xerox, it is now not about selling you a printer to execute your print job, but also how it is done," Odeke said. "The machines come with single as well as multipurpose functions [for] printing, scanning and archiving."

Commenting on the challenges of market re-entry, Odeke said sufficient investment plans are in place to ensure that the company's infrastructure meets maintenance and support capabilities to fully cover the market.
